The Aurum Confederation (officially the Confederation of Aurum and informally referred to as Aurum) is a Galactic state located in the Aurum system in the Core regions of Antarcia. It was formed in 79834 IGA after the unification of Anor and Martia. The state slowly expanded over 300 years to cover the entire Aurum system. It was renamed from the Aurum Planetary Union to the present name.
The nation is centered around its capital planet of Anor which is the location of the Parliament of Aurum. The planet is also the most economically developed and advanced. The country is a federal parliamentary republic ruled by an elected Supreme President. The Supreme President then appoints the Chancellor to run the government on his behalf. The chancellor must be approved by the Council of Presidents.
The nation has not been in a major conflict for nearly 325 years at the end of the Aurum Civil War. The country has only ever taken part in the Smuggler Wars and the Fifth Trade War. The countries reason for staying out of wars is for its small military. With only 9.7 million active personnel it is the smallest army in the Core regions of Antarcia.
The country is a hugely advanced country. Nearly all its planets are fully developed into mega cities though there is still a large agricultural sector. The country is one of the leaders in hyperspace and transportation technology and were the first to abolish restrictions on travel for its citizens.

First Unification[]
After the World Government Movement gained control of the planets of Anor and Martia they proceeded to form a new galactic state. The system was lagging behind other core worlds which were nearly all united into one system government. After years of negotiations and a few conflicts the two countries came together in 79834 IGA. For the first 80 years the country was of no concern to expand to the star system. Under the leadership of the Unified Peoples Party the country remained on the two original planets. However in 79894 the UPP lost two thirds of its seat in the Senate. The Nationalist Democratic Party came to power under the leadership of Vilhem Starhawk who was a ultra nationalist-militarist.
Starhawk immediately passed the Expansion Act which ordered the expansion of the Aurum Armed Forces the creation of the Aurum Star Navy to explore the system. Within 10 years the unification of the system began. At first the star navy invaded three of the outer planets which were mainly occupied by primitive species. Starhawk soon passed away though this was at a time when his power was waning.
Scheme for Economic Expansion[]
After Starhawks death in 78911 Benedict Gallia took over the NDP and abandoned its aggressive policies. He created the Department for Economic Development and Expansion. He believed that all the other worlds would be jealous of the economic power of the new confederation.
